Product Description

The Living Basix Jet Fry Oil-Free Fryer makes cooking quick, convenient and most importantly, healthy! This unique product makes crisp, succulent fried food with little to no oil. Using a combination of infrared and convection cooking technologies, the Jet Fry Oil-Free Fryer reaches an internal temperature of up to 400F and evenly circulates hot air to cook chicken wings, French fries and onion rings with the same crunchy exterior and moist interior produced by conventional deep fryers. You can also use the Jet Fry to bake or broil meats and vegetables. Virtually all of the cooking oil is absorbed by the food, eliminating strong odors as well as the hassle of disposing of large quantities of used oil. The Living Basix Jet Fry Oil-Free Fryer has multiple adjustable temperatures as well as a programmable timer. The inner components are also dishwasher safe for easy maintenance. ETl-listed.

I have had this for a few days and it is quickly becoming my favorite appliance. It quickly cooks(fries) frozen fries, appetizers, zucchini cakes, and other frozen foods to tasty perfection without the oily mess and added fat and calories. I even fried some grilled unbreaded chicken pieces that had been in the freezer for 3 years and they came out good. All I did first was toss the nuggets in a zipper bag with a teaspoon of garlic infused olive oil first. At 375 degrees, they were ready in 15 minutes.

We use this almost every day at our second home. We have the Phillips at our main home so we can compare the two fairly accurately. Basically, it works very will and we use it for fish, okra, crab cakes, sausage, chicken, pretty much anything that would have otherwise gone in a frying pan with some oil. While the Phillips is slightly larger, we can make the same portion in both. The Phillips seems slightly more efficient but it's hardly noticeable. The key difference, as you might expect, are quality. The Phillips is a high quality piece and it really shows in a side by side comparison. Some of the most noticeable differences are in the fryer basket, the LB100 is more flimsy but adequate. The LB100 is half the price so we expected that it wouldn't be the same quality. Another difference is the blower, which is the heart of the unit, the Phillips is more powerful and that's why it's perhaps a bit more efficient. The fan in the LB100 is slower to spin up and perhaps slower overall and it fluctuates a bit when the heating element comes on, something we have never seen the Phillips do.

All that said, we can achieve the same great results from the LB100 in about the same time. We don't follow any particular guidance on temperature or time, it took us a week to master it and we basically cook everything on high for 10 to 15 minutes. We find that basting foods with a bit of olive oil can be very worthwhile, especially with fish.

Finally, about our four star rating. The only reason for 4 stars is because we compared it to a Phillips and it fell a little short. We still like it very much and we'd buy another one before paying twice the price for a Phillips, as long as holds up and provides a comparable service life. That remains to be seen.

I searched carefully for an oil-free fryer; chose this one due to other reviews and reasonable price; only used it twice; The first use
let me know that I needed to experiment with time/temperature. The 2cd use, however, was the problem. I followed directions carefully; when removing the basket/bowl 1/2 way thru cooking, to shake the food as instructed, the bowl spontaneously disengaged from the basket falling to the floor. Oil coated potatoes fell all over the floor; the coating of the bowl left black shards of paint scattered over the floor. The coating continued to flake off as I washed the bowl. Amazon kindly refunded me. This item should be recalled by LifeBasix

This cooks good but it blows some of the hot air out the back and therefor gets the wall dirty with little spots of grease, etc. i'm not sure if other similar products do the same. Also a troublesome issue is that the coating on the piece used to insert and cook in is chipping off. Don't think I would purchase this one again.

I have received mine for a week; used it everyday and love it !
The inner design is very simple, a burner coil and a fan above it; I don't think durability would be an issue and I am glad that I didn't spend double price for Philips.

I have had this gadget for more than two years and use it regularly. I absolutely love using this and not having to actually fry with oil. Things come out crispy crunchy aswomeness. There is one beef and it is the basket. The handle is mostly connected with plastic. Yep that breaks easy. Making the hot basket dangerously unsteady. The basket is also powder coated witch stands up well to cleaning, but the wire floor sometimes comes out in the pan. So some faults that hopefully gets fixed on the next generation. If you like fried foods get one. You won't be disappointed. I will get another once my handle completely falls apart.
